Tara, Jake & Mackenzie

There’s something wonderous about photographing newborn lifestyle sessions.  The sessions are always so subdued, with new Mums & Dads in awe of this little human they’ve created that is now suddenly part of their lived forever.

You can see everything there right in front of you – the hopes parents have for their baby, the care that is taken to wipe away the tiniest eyelash or tear fallen from place, the shock of suddenly being a parent, the exhaustion….but above all of this you see the love.  The love is so thick and all-encompassing during these sessions it almost becomes something physical in the room you can feel.  Love almost becomes a tangible object.

You can see it here with Tara and Jake and their new daughter Mackenzie – clear as day.

Momoka, Koji & Sarah

I met Koji and Momoka a few weeks ago when I photographed their maternity session for them. When Sarah was born, they asked me over for a newborn lifestyle session together.

While there, I could see that Koji and Momoka are such contented, peaceful new parents. Sarah was feeling the relaxed, loving mood too – it made for a really lovely, sweet afternoon together.

Brett, Simone & Ethan

Newborn shoots are quite intimate sessions.  It’s quiet inside and everyone (including me) is caught in that baby bubble – where you wonder at this new family that has just been created and watch them fall in love with each other.

It’s a beautiful thing to behold.

Monique, Mathew & Grace

I’ve been doing more newborn sessions lately, and I love them.  Capturing those magic, tender, quiet moments of these new little humans at home with their Mum & Dad…just amazing to bear witness to.

And when the Mum & Dad happen to be friends (of mine) too…well, the love in the room for that little person is palpable.

Little Grace, it was an absolute pleasure to meet you.  We’re so happy that you’re here xx

Jacqueline, Rakai & Hugo

Newborn sessions are always so tender and peaceful.  They are such a contrast from the flurry and anticipation of a wedding, or the energy of a family shoot.

The little ones are so small and curly and so very, very new.

Everyone, meet Hugo.  Hugo, meet everyone.
